From corruption of เจ้าพระคุณ (jâao-prá-kun), from เจ้า (jâao, lord) +‎ พระ (prá, divine) +‎ คุณ (kun, grace), literally lord of divine grace. Further corrupted as เจ้าประคู้น (jâao-bprà-kúun).
