Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *s-mun (“dark, dull, sad”). Cognate with Tibetan རྨུན་པོ (rmun po, “dull, heavy, stupid”) and Chinese 悶/闷 (mèn, “depressed, in low spirits”).
