From Proto-Germanic *dailidēdun, 3rd plural past indicative of Proto-Germanic *dailijaną. Cognate with Gothic 𐌳𐌰𐌹𐌻𐌹𐌳𐌴𐌳𐌿𐌽 (dailidēdun) (3rd pl. past ind. of 𐌳𐌰𐌹𐌻𐌾𐌰𐌽 (dailjan)).
