Etymology[edit]
From -er- + -esti.
- -er- is the reduced form of the Italian infinitive endings -are and -ere.
- -esti stems from Vulgar Latin hĕbuisti, which stems from classical Latin habuistī, second-person singular perfect of habeō.[1]
