The plural of Latin acridophagus, from Ancient Greek ἀκρίς (akrís, “locust”) + φάγος (phágos).

- A supposed locust-eating people in ancient ethnography, located by Diodorus Siculus, Jerome, Pliny the Elder, and Strabo, variously in Ethiopia, Libya, or Parthia.
