Nuke this on sight. It is an encyclopedia article copied long ago by globally blocked user User:Liliana-60, and completely duplicates the translation table for German. Benwing2 (talk) 05:23, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

It definitely doesn't deserve to be "nuked on sight", and the fact that Liliana has been globally banned doesn't have any bearing on the issue. And it doesn't merely duplicate the translation table at German, because it groups the terms by their etymology and explains the various origins. I actually find the appendix very interesting; the only issue in my opinion is whether it adds any value to the Wikipedia article w:Names of Germany. I'm not sure it does; the only advantage our appendix has over the WP article AFAICT is conciseness, and that's not a huge advantage. So I guess I'm leaning toward a weak delete (weak because I can easily imagine changing my mind if someone else comes along with a good argument to keep). —Mahāgaja · talk 08:51, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

Hmm, it's lexically interesting, but it might be better to present it in another way, such as (by letting Wikipedia do it and also) by putting the long lists of cognates (of Dutch, of Alemanniic, of *němьcь, etc) into the most relevant entries, and then mentioning selected examples in condensed form (and possibly in a collapsed table) in German, like how Roma mentions that "The other major categories of words for the Roma are cognates of Gypsy (words related to Egypt) and cognates of tzigane (words derived from Greek)". - -sche (discuss) 09:27, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

Delete. Reading the Appendix:"German"_in_various_languages#Nemec section and others, it's funny how Liliana-60 failed to find lemmas and mixed adjective forms and nouns, abbreviated language names and plural demonyms, no transliteration provided where necessary. Not a very useful list from a linguistic point of view and I am not interested in cleaning this up. --Anatoli T. ^{(обсудить}/^вклад) 23:28, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

I added a sentence to German mentioning where to find the other different sets of names, in line with what is done at Roma, as I proposed above. The only words listed in the appendix but not in our dictionary were: Pitcairn-Norfolk (we have no entry at all); Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese (we have entries but they don't seem to be linked from the name PGmc page, unlike Chinese), the list of cognates of German (currently not present in that entry), and the Baltic terms (currently not cross-linked with German). - -sche (discuss) 18:10, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
