[edit]

Where did the phrase "mixed convergence" come from? 98.170.164.88 03:56, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

D. W. Cummings uses the term in his American English Spelling: An Informal Description; as far as I know, the term has barely been used elsewhere (I don't think it would meet WT:CFI). His use of the term isn't exactly identical to mine; as Cummings is no linguist, it possesses a certain lack of semantic rigour that one typically associates with the linguistic researches of amateurs. Still, I opted to use the term as I couldn't devise anything better; additionally, I believe it's desirable to consider adopt existing terminology whenever it can be found, though I wouldn't have any strong objections if you or anyone else developed something less opaque.
