Etymology
[edit]Scottish Gaelic Diùranais, further etymology uncertain; possibly dòrainn nis (“tempest point”), dhu (see dubh) thír nis (“point of the black land”), or a borrowing from Old Norse dýr (“deer, wild animal”). More at Durness.
