Etymology

Inherited from Old Galician-Portuguese Loule, from Andalusian Arabic *al-Olea, from Arabic الْعُلْيَا (al-ʕulyā, the high one).[1] Alternatively, from Arabic اَلْ (al-, the) +‎ Latin olea (olive tree).
