Maritime + provinces, so called because of its coastal location.
Proper noun[edit]
- The region of Canada comprising the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
Usage notes[edit]
These provinces with Newfoundland and Labrador comprise the Atlantic provinces.
