Etymology
[edit]From P (“P wave”) + New Latin pulmōnāle, neuter singular of pulmōnālis (“relating to the lungs; pulmonary”), from pulmō (“lung”) + -ālis. So named because it often appears as a consequence of pulmonary disease.

[edit]- (cardiology) A high, narrow and peaked P wave on an electrocardiogram, most commonly observed in leads II and III, usually caused by enlargement of the right atrium.
