Proto-Slavic[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Per Derksen 2008, cognate with Lithuanian kam̃pas (“corner”), from Proto-Balto-Slavic *kamptas, from Proto-Indo-European *kh₂em- (“to curve, bend”)[1]
Has been further compared with Ancient Greek κανθός (kanthós, “eye's corner”) (phonetically problematic), Proto-Celtic *kantos (“edge”).
