BTW, I cannot find any Russian source, where "бы" is noted as aorist of "быть"... :-/

I think that "бы", like English "would", "could" are particles..

The English words would and could are verb forms. While Russian бы is now thought of as a particle, it comes from OCS бъіти: (singular aorist) Template:RUchar, etc. And while it’s now considered a particle, it is a significant element of the Russian system of conjugation, and any student of Russian will expect to find бы treated with verbs. —Stephen 08:13, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
