Thanks for the answer, Anatoli T., which I knew, since modlić się in Polish. No need to shout: I was simply suspecting a PIE cognate to mowa, but it seems not be the case here.

As actually it comes from *molditi (not -dl-) due to the metathesis, shall we then link to Lithuanian: malda (lt) f, and Middle High German melden, Proto-Germanic *melþōną, etc. back to the PIE? Will you join the forces ;)? Zezen (talk) 09:56, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
