Talk:अक्तूबर

A "halant" at the bottom of a letter does not always make it a "half letter." क़ is not the same as half क. The template needs work.

There is no template in use on this page. I do not understand what you are talking about. क़ (q) is not the same as (k) or even half (k). --Dijan 18:58, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Which is more common, अक्तूबर or अक्टूबर?[edit]

(Notifying AryamanA, Atitarev, DerekWinters, Kutchkutch, Bhagadatta, Msasag): Should we make one of them the main form and the other one link to it as an alt form? Benwing2 (talk) 03:49, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Benwing2: Former gets ~7 million hits on Google, latter ~12 million. On Google News, the later is overwhelmingly preferred (factor of 20). I prefer the former personally when speaking, but this much points to the latter as main entry, with former as an altform. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 03:51, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Yeah though अक्तूबर could've been the original word, borrowed from Portuguese and अक्टूबर could be influenced by English October, since t is realized in Hindi as the retroflex . -- Bhagadatta (talk) 04:21, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
