Any takers? SemperBlotto 11:32, 2 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think it's more a case that Egyptian until very recently wasn't supported by Unicode. It's not gonna be attested because the Latin script didn't exist at that time, but if you look at Category:Egyptian nouns they're all romanized, so we could keep it temporarily until we find a way to move to the correct script. Widsith (talkcontribs) has moved it to [[𓄟𓋴]]. Feel free to RFV that one if you doubt it. —RuakhTALK 12:42, 2 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

RFD discussion: August–September 2017[edit]

The following information has failed Wiktionary's deletion process (permalink).

It should not be re-entered without careful consideration.

Not a suffix, and it doesn’t mean ‘son of’, just an abbreviated writing of ms (to give birth) + sw (him). In context (generally as part of personal names), ‘X ms sw’ is literally a sentence, ‘X [is the one who] bore him’. Compare zꜣ-rꜥ (literally son of Ra) vs. rꜥ-ms-sw (Ramesses, literally Ra is the one who bore him). In short, it’s entirely SOP and not a suffix. — Vorziblix (talk · contribs) 09:46, 10 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Vorziblix: Is there no reason to keep this as an abbreviation? —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 01:06, 11 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Metaknowledge: Hmm, I guess it depends on whether you’d call it an abbreviation of ms sw or just ms followed by an abbreviation of sw. Since sw does appear abbreviated as s outside this context, I’d be inclined to see it as the latter. — Vorziblix (talk · contribs) 04:38, 11 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Vorziblix: I didn't know that. I would be okay with that solution, as long as the relevant sense is added to s. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 06:09, 11 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Metaknowledge: Relevant senses have been added at ms/msj and s. — Vorziblix (talk · contribs) 06:48, 11 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
