Attestation

[edit]

@Mlgc1998 Needs attestation. How sure are we that "Santiago" refers to Guan Yu and not the place in Isabela? We need attestation that uses "Santiago" to really mean Guan Yu or Lord Guan. Mar vin kaiser (talk) 12:49, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Mlgc1998: I know Wiktionary is supposedly for amateur editors, but at the very least we should the bare minimum of providing the same due diligence that lexicographers do when creating a dictionary. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 12:50, 8 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Mar vin kaiser I may not have messaged u besides the screenshot i showed awhile ago in the groupchat of that temple, but there's other posts on fb of people selling statues of Guan Yu calling it Santo Santiago and that book by Richard Chu talks about it but the Brill link locks the content to be publicly viewable. @Mlgc1998: Don't attach a reference directly to the definition. Should be in etymology. Also, as I said, the source does not say that "Santiago" refers to Guan Yu. It just says that they are associated with each other. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 02:48, 9 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
