RFV discussion: August–September 2022[edit]

This entry has survived Wiktionary's verification process (permalink).

Please do not re-nominate for verification without comprehensive reasons for doing so.

This entry, or one or more of its senses, has been nominated as derogatory pursuant to WT:DEROGATORY. It may be speedily deleted if it does not have at least three quotations meeting the attestation requirements within two weeks of the nomination date, that is, by 4 September 2022.

Sense (until I changed it to be more accurate):

  1. (Internet slang, ethnic slur) An untimely demise of someone.

Tagged by @2602:306:cec2:a3a0:4dd6:8786:8a4d:2ccb but not listed. Note that this is now cited, so this RFV is more of a formality than anything. Binarystep (talk) 03:41, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

I think this might be our "chimpmania" racist: I had to edit this entry many times, because of course the usual meaning is just a slightly strange way to say "making something good". When I'm not there, you have to do my work. Check out the page history. Equinox 07:06, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's definitely the same person. The unusual, euphemistic phrasing ("untimely demise of someone" when the term exclusively refers to black people being killed) is a dead giveaway. Binarystep (talk) 08:12, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
My interpretation of WT:DEROGATORY is that this did not need to go to RFV; it could have stayed tagged with {{derogatory}} without RFV. Only old entries need to go to RFV. --Dan Polansky (talk) 12:00, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
