Translations for "railway station" / "train station" split into two with no explanation

On 10 June 2019, user: Rajkiandris (now permanently banned) split the translations for this entry into two: "place where trains stop" and "an urban terminal for a number of trains". The difference between these is altogether mysterious -- it appears to be based on a distinction between "a place where trains stop" (functional or technical definition) and "a station building" (a train station as a bunch of facilities for users). However, there is no basis for making such a distinction at the English entry itself ("A place where trains stop for passengers to embark and disembark") and the second sense has entries for only a select group of languages. The pre-split version would seem to make more sense for the user, in that (for instance), the German term "Bahnhof" is surely the word most people would be searching for as a translation of "train/railway station". If there is a distinction between the two senses in some languages, surely it could be reflected in qualifying notes (e.g., "technical") without creating an altogether confusing split between senses.
