German sense to add[edit]

I think this is used in German as an abbreviation for sterben (to die) (or some conjugated form thereof). Search for "st. 1750 zu" (to take one arbitrary year) on Google Books and you'll see what I mean. It seems to go along with geb. 98.170.164.88 09:55, 10 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

@98.170.164.88: I would assume it's an abbreviation of starb (he/she died); a German equivalent of ob. (from the Latin obiit, whose meaning is more euphemistic than the German). 0DF (talk) 23:48, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
