Ingrian[edit]

@Thadh, there are translations "precise, accurate" for Ingrian, which I can't find supporting evidence for (I've checked Nirvi and other dictionaries including Votic and also asked Mehmet Muslimov; on the other hand I've seen word tocnoi in Junus's textbooks). @KirillW: It's an attempt at translating the first sense given by Nirvi - tarkka pyssy which he translates as tarkkakäyntinen [pyssy]. I guess something like "precise at shooting" would be clearer? Thadh (talk) 11:42, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Thadh, I might be a bit wrong on semantic differences between English words precise and accurate, but to me both examples from Nirvi would translate in Russian as меткий, and thus translating tarkka as precise would shift the semantics. KirillW (talk) 09:53, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@KirillW: I've tried doing something, see if you think it's an improvement. Thadh (talk) 00:27, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also, cf tarkkaa. Thadh (talk) 12:13, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Thadh, could carefully be a better translation there? KirillW (talk) 09:54, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
