I'd like to present some 'original research', the value of which is obvious.

I don't think the current entry allows for the obsolete "from whence", as in the Bible, James iv. 1: "From whence come wars?" The existing senses already incorporate the "from", so they would only cover "Whence come wars?". Equinox 21:44, 19 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
