From Mandarin 烏魯木齊乌鲁木齐 (Wūlǔmùqí), from Manchu ᡠᡵᡠᠮᠴᡳ (urumci), from Written Oirat ᡇᠷᡇᡏᡔᡅ (urumci), from Chagatai اورُمجی (Ūrumčī).
