Spanish[edit]

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /aˈɡwita/ [aˈɣ̞wi.t̪a]
  • Rhymes: -ita
  • Syllabification: a‧güi‧ta

Etymology 1[edit]

From agua +‎ -ita.

Noun[edit]

agüita f (plural agüitas)

  1. diminutive of agua; a small amount of water
Usage notes[edit]
  • agua is a feminine noun, but the masculine definite article is used because it starts with a stressed a: el agua. Its diminutive, agüita, stresses the second syllable, so the feminine definite article is used as with any other ordinary feminine noun: la agüita.

Etymology 2[edit]

See the etymology of the corresponding lemma form.

Verb[edit]

agüita

  1. only used in se agüita, third-person singular present indicative of agüitarse
  2. only used in te ... agüita, syntactic variant of agüítate, second-person singular imperative of agüitarse
