From Dutch andijvie, from Middle Dutch endivie, from Old French endive, from Medieval Latin endivia, from Late Latin intibus, from Byzantine Greek ἔντυβον (éntubon). Cognate of Sundanese ᮃᮔ᮪ᮓᮦᮝᮤ (andéwi).
