Borrowed from French arsenic, from Middle French arsenic, from Latin arsenicum, from Byzantine Greek ἀρσενικόν (arsenikón), from Semitic, from Middle Iranian *zarnīk, from Old Iranian *zarniya-ka-, from Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰelh₃-. Doublet of arsen.
