Etymology[edit]
Sino-Vietnamese word from 白金, composed of 白 (“white”) and 金 (“gold; metal”), from Japanese 白金 (hakkin). Compare Chinese 鉑/铂 (bạc) which is composed of 金 (kim, chemical radical for metallic elements) + 白 (bạch).
