Etymology

[edit]

chemo- +‎ sensitivity

Noun

[edit]

chemosensitivity (plural chemosensitivities)

  1. (medicine) A measure of the sensitivity of a tumour to the effects of an anticancer drug.
  2. (medicine) A measure of the sensitivity of a microbial sample to the effects of an antimicrobial drug.

Usage notes

[edit]

The microbial sense is less common than the tumor sense; in current usage antibiotic sensitivity is seldom called chemosensitivity, just as antibiotic therapy is seldom called chemotherapy today.
