crossed loop sensor (plural crossed loop sensors)

  1. A device comprising two magnetic coils with axes set at right angles to each other. When an electromagnetic signal induces voltages in the coils, the ratio of voltage induced in one compared to the other provides information about the direction of the signal source relative to the device.
