[edit]From Middle Welsh dosparth; By surface analysis, du- + gosbarth, gwosbarth (“order, rule, government”), the latter from gos- (“meaningless prefix”) + parth (“zone, region, part”), with gos-, gwos- from Proto-Celtic *wo-eks (“onomatopoeia for an explosion”).
