1. A mythical creature of the United States and Australia, a snake that grasps its tail in its jaws and thereby rolls after its prey like a wheel.
2. Snakes of genus Farancia, chiefly of the southeastern U.S.:
   1. Farancia abacura (horn snake, mud snake)
   2. Farancia erytrogramma (rainbow snake)
