Etymology

From Hottentotten +‎ tenten +‎ tentoonstelling. Extended from Hottentottententoonstelling to make a joke word and tongue-twister, notable for containing t and a vowel seven times in a row. It did not initially have any useful meaning other than the literal meaning implied by its parts.
