Etymology

From inom +‎ -on, underwent vowel elision (inomón > inmon) and then metathesis (inmon > imnon). Ultimately from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *inumən (drink) (cf. Bikol Central inomon, Tagalog inumin, Ilocano inumen, Malagasy inomina).
