Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish قیص قیوراق (ḳıs ḳıvraḳ),[1][2][3] likely from قیصمق (ḳısmaḳ) and قاورامق (ḳavramaḳ), not from قیوراق (ḳıvraḳ, lively, agile, sharp),[4] equivalent to kıs- (to pinch, to squeeze) +‎ kavra- (to grab, to seize) +‎ -k (adjectival participle suffix).
