Etymology[edit]
From négy (“four”) + szem (“eye”) + közt (“between”), literally “between four eyes”. Compare French entre quatre yeux, German unter vier Augen, Italian a quattr'occhi, Polish w cztery oczy, Czech mezi čtyřma očima.
