Hungarian[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From the same, now archaic Hungarian verb nyug (“to keep quiet”), the same word from which nyugszik and nyugat derive from. This in turn derives from Proto-Finno-Ugric *ńuŋV (“to rest”).[1]
