packet station (plural packet stations)
- (nautical, dated) A ferry port used by packets (ferries) carrying mail and passengers over short distances, e.g. across a channel.
- 1946 March and April, K. Westcott Jones, “The Isle of Wight Central Railway”, in Railway Magazine, page 112:
- A branch line was to run from Newport to Ryde, which had by then attained considerable importance as the packet station providing the quickest access to the island from London, via Portsmouth.
