Etymology[edit]
From Ottoman Turkish پاتردی (patırdı, “onomatopoeic for; knocking, tapping or any loud, continuous noise, disturbance, row”),[1] from Ottoman Turkish پات (pat, “onomatopoeic for; loud, sharp noise from a flat thing, repeated noise of blows or of falling feet”), morphologically pat + -ır + -tı.
