From Old Galician-Portuguese perrexil, borrowed from Old Occitan pe(i)ressil, from Latin petroselinum, from Ancient Greek πετροσέλινον (petrosélinon), from πέτρα (pétra, stone) + σέλινον (sélinon, celery).
