West Frisian

Etymology

[edit]

Origin obscure. Apparently related to Dutch snoepen (to snack, eat sweets) and German Low German snopen (to snack, nibble), perhaps all from Old Norse snópa (to idle around). Compare also Old Frisian snabba (mouth), Old Norse snoppa (snout, muzzle).
