Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish یاد ایتمك (yād itmek, etmek, to remember, to recollect, to mention by name),[1][2] from یاد (yād), equivalent to compound of yâd (an act of remembering, remembrance) +‎ etmek (to do, to make).[3]
