Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Nuristani *unnyásati (to be born, come into existence), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ud- (out) + *ní (down) + *Hásti (to be), literally "to be coming down". Compare -nīsúë- (to appear, come out). Semantically, compare English come down the pike.
