From Proto-Turkic *bögür (kidney; side of body).[1]

Cognate with Tatar бөер (böer, kidney), Kazakh бүйір (büiır, side of the body), Turkish böğür (side, flank), Azerbaijani böyür (flank), Turkmen böwür (flank), Yakut бүөр (büör, kidney).
