Bashkir[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Russian жаль (žalʹ, one feels pity/sorry).

Note that the grammar usage pattern in the sentence (predicative, the cases it takes) was also borrowed from Russian.

Compare with Tatar жәл (jäl, one feels pity/sorry).
