From Proto-Mordvinic *noška, from Proto-Finno-Permic *nišɜ~*nüšɜ (blunt) + *-ka. Akin to Moksha ношка (noška), Eastern Mari нӱшкӧ (nüškö), Udmurt ныж (nyž).
