четырёх- (četyrjóx-) +‎ эта́ж (etáž) +‎ -ный (-nyj)

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): [t͡ɕɪtɨˌrʲɵxɨˈtaʐnɨj]
  • (fast or casual) IPA(key): [t͡ɕɪtɨrʲɪxɨˈtaʐnɨj] (phonetic respelling: четырехэта́жный)

четырёхэта́жный (četyrjoxɛtážnyj)

Usage notes[edit]

The letter ё (jo) in четырёх- (četyrjóx-), which naturally carries the primary stress, instead carries the secondary stress as a rare exception. The letter ё (jo) becomes е (je) in fast or casual speech. See трёх- (trjox-) for another example.
