From Arabic عليه السلام (ʕalayhi s-salām, peace be upon him).

Compare to Uzbek alayhissalom, Uyghur ئەلەيھىسسالام (eleyhissalam).

    There were some 15 thousand sheep in Musa's herd, peace be upon him. When he counted (the sheep once) in the evening, he found out that one lamb was missing.

Usage notes[edit]

  • This interjection is used in postposition. As seen in the example about Musa, it takes the inflection instead of the name it follows.
