Adapted from Russian хомут (xomut, horsecollar).

Cognate with Kazakh қамыт (qamyt), Kyrgyz каамыт (kaamıt), Southern Altai комут (komut), Kumyk хамут (xamut), Uzbek xomut, Turkmen hamyt, Azerbaijani xamıt (horsecollar).
