Bashkir
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Via an intermediary language, from Proto-Turkic *kudug (“water well”), from Proto-Turkic *kud- (“to pour”).
Compare with Old Uyghur [script needed] (quduğ, “water well”); Kazakh
The intermediary could have been a Mongolic language (compare Mongolian худаг (xudag, “well”)).
Compare ҡойо, the native Kypchak development from the same archetype.
