Bulgar[edit]

Etymology[edit]

It replaces بَلُو (belüv, monument) in only one Volga Bulgar inscription. When we examine the phonology of the Volga Bulgar language, it is absolute borrowing from a Northern Kipchak language or Khorezmian language. Cognate with Chuvash пӗтӳ (pĕt̬ü, amulet), Old Turkic 𐰋𐰃𐱅𐰏 (b²it²g). From Proto-Turkic *biti-g.

Noun[edit]

بطك (bitig)

  1. epitaph, inscription
